About Beretta 96

The Beretta 96 is a semi-automatic pistol, chambered with .40 S&W ammunition. The frame is made of aluminum alloy. Slide and barrel are either made of carbon steel or stainless steel. The use of the material depends on the model variation. The pistol is intended for off duty police or pistol carry permit holders who seek a highly concealable but also reliable pistol. The model was designed for self-defense and therefore can be carry comfortable, with high rate of concealment. It’s fitted with a frame-mounted, thumb-operated sear-locking safety system, that blocks the slide. It can be applied with the hammer fully down or cocked. The hammer has a half-cock safety system. The Beretta 96 was designed without any extractor. It is relying just on blowback inertia in order to remove fired cases from the chamber. Concealed carry options and its suitability are very subjective. However smaller versions can be concealed easier but may be more difficult to handle. More powerful ammunition has greater stopping power but it’s more difficult to fire accurately.
